Dr. Muhammad Yazid Bin Sarkawi, or simply known as Dr. Y,is the Managing Director/Owner of SMA Dental Sdn Bhd and a practicing dentist at Klinik Pergigian Saujana. Dr. Y was born on December 24, 1992, in Bintulu, Sarawak. Aside from being a successful dentist and entrepreneur, Dr. Y is also passionate about cycling with his road bike and reading business and motivational books. He also enjoys his wife’s cooking, which is his favorite food.
Dr. Y’s educational journey began at SRK Kidurong 1, SMK Bintulu, and he finished his SPM in MARA Junior Science College. He then pursued his A-Levels in Kolej Teknologi Timur Sepang, where he managed to get a scholarship from MARA to further his studies.
In 2017, Dr. Y obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery(BDS) from Melaka-Manipal Medical College, where he spent two years in the Manipal campus for preclinical studies and three years in the Melaka campus for clinical studies. He then started his government service at Klinik Pergigian Besar Alor Gajah in 2018-2019.
Dr. Y joined the private sector in 2019 and opened his practice in August 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, Dr. Y’s passion for dentistry remained steadfast. He is passionate about Anterior Aesthetic Dentistry and Dental Photography, which led him to join courses such as Indirect Restoration, Advanced Root Canal Treatment, and Implantology Fellowship. He also gave courses such as Aesthetica x Rubberdamology and Dental Photography.
Dr. Y’s niche includes Anterior crown and bridge, anterior veneers, minor oral surgery, and wisdom tooth removal. He envisions himself managing a multidisciplinary dental clinic and becoming a trusted dental care provider in Melaka in the next five years.
